Program online
The program with abstracts and CV's is now online and available here. The program will be slightly different this year. We have three plenary speakers.
The first lecture will be from Thomas Moore. After the lunch Hervé This will continue. For those who can't wait here is link to one of his video's.
The last lecture of the day will be given by Peter Atkins. Best known for his study books: 'Physical Chemistry' and 'Inorganic Chemistry'!
Incorrect e-mail
Dear PACers,
As much as we would like the symposium to be on the morrow we will have to wait untill march 8 for the symposium to take place. We are deeply sorry for the e-mail you received on January 29. Please ignore the received e-mail.
Regards,
Freek Hoekstra
Board of PAC 2012
What is the PAC symposium?
The PAC symposium is an annual symposium for Chemistry students in Holland, organised by the PAC foundation. The board of the foundation changes annually and always consists of students from four study associations of
chemistry namely the 'Amsterdams Chemisch Dispuut', 'Chemisch Dispuut Leiden', 'Utrechtse Scheikundige Studentenvereniging Proton and the 'Vereniging van ChemieStudenten aan de Vrije Universiteit'.
The goal of the PAC foundation is to improve the relationship between members of these four associations and the main event to meet that task is the annual symposium. Between the plenary and parallel sessions that
make up the symposium there is plenty of time to socialise with the chemistry students from different universities. During a plenary session all participants attend to the same lecture whereas during the parallel
sessions there is the possibility to choose from three different lectures about different chemistry related subjects. On the same day the Royal Dutch Chemistry Association (KNCV) organises a poster competition where
students who are in the last phase of their study can present their research and compete for one of the prizes. During lunch the participants of the symposium have a chance to see these posters and vote for the public
award, given out by the PAC foundation. The day ends with free drinks for all participants and helpers.
A student symposium is of course incomplete without a fantastic evening programme! First we offer a dinner for a very reasonable price, in the centre of Leiden. After this fabulous dinner an even better party will
be held at a location close to the restaurant and near Leiden Central station, a chance to socialise deep into the night! |
